Srinagar: Five days after he was injured along with three other persons after a house collapsed following a gunfight at Nawa Kadal here, a 25-year-old youth succumbed to his wounds at a hospital here on Sunday. The death of the youth identified as Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, came barely a few hours after a middle-aged man succumbed to injuries. These deaths took an overall toll in the incident to three.
Confirming the death, Medical Superintendent SMHS hospital Dr Nazir Choudhary said that the “25-year-old” from Jamalatta Nawadal succumbed to the “burn injuries.”
Earlier in the day, a 55-year-old man, Manzoor Ahmad Khan son of Abdul Aziz from Hawal Srinagar, succumbed to the injuries.
They had suffered serious burn injuries after one of the several houses damaged in gunfight between militants and government forces at the Kanimazar Nawa Kadal collapsed on last Wednesday. Four persons were injured in the incident and one of them, a 12-year-old boy, died earlier this week. Two Hizb-ul-Muajhideen militants including Junaid Sehrai, son of Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, chairman Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, were killed in the gunfight with police and CRPF. During the course of gunfight, several houses were damaged and one of them collapsed, leading to injuries to at least four persons.
