Srinagar: A middle-aged man, injured in a house collapse following an encounter at Kanimazar Nawa Kadal here last week, succumbed to burn wounds at SMHS hospital here, officials said on Sunday.
They said the man identified as Manzoor Ahmad from Islamia Hawal Srinagar had suffered serious burn injuries after one of the several houses damaged in a gunfight between militants and government forces at the Nawa Kadal collapsed. Four persons were injured in the incident and one of them, a 12-year-old boy, died earlier this week.
Confirming the death, medical superintendent SMHS hospital Dr. Nazir Choudhary said that the man was admitted to the hospital with severe burn injuries. Two militants including Junaid Sehrai, son of Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, chairman Tehreek-e-Hurriyat was killed in the gunfight with police and CRPF. During the course o gunfight, several houses were damaged and one of them collapsed, leading to injuries to at least four persons.
