80 Fresh Cases In J&K, Covid-19 Tally Jumps To 1569

Srinagar: 80 cases of the COVID-19 infection were reported in J&K on Saturday, taking the overall tally to 1,569—1330 in Valley and 239 in Jammu.
Official said that among the fresh cases, 36 were reported from Kupwara, 14 from Ramban, six from Anantnag, 5 from Kulgam, four each from Baramulla, Pulwama and Jammu, three from Srinagar and one each from Bandipora, Kathua, Kishtwar and Poonch.
Among the total cases 774 are active positive—165 in Jammu and 609 in Kashmir while 774—702 in Valley and 72 in Jammu have recovered, 54 of them today, while 21 people have died including a 55-year-old woman from Kulgam who succumbed at SKIMS today.
Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS said 39 samples returned positive among the samples processed at viral diagnostic lab of the hospital. He said 5422 samples were pending.
Nodal officer for coronavirus control at SKIMS Soura, Dr G H Yatoo, said that among the fresh cases, 35 are from Kupwara, two from Srinagar while one each is from Pulwama—30-year-old man from Khrew Pampore and Baramulla—40-year-old man from Rafiabad.
The Kupwara cases include two women—one 18-year-old and another 20-year-old— besides 33 men— aged between 19 to 66 years—, residents of Daripora, Gulgam, and main Kupwara having travel history to Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Utrakhand and Punjab, sources said.
The two Srinagar cases confirmed at SKIMS include 24-year-old male from Rambagh and 30-year-old woman from Qamarwari
Dr. Salim Khan, nodal officer for COVID-19 at the Government Medical College Srinagar told GNS that out of 620 samples processed at Microbiology Lab of CD Hospital here, fourteen returned positive.
Sources said that among the cases they include six from Anantnag— 63-year-old woman and three women—aged 40, 43 and 62 years besides two men—one 23-year-old and another 53-year-old—from Imoh area. Four are from Kulgam—20-year-old woman from Kariwa and three— 65-year-oold man and two women, one of them aged 40-years-old, from Khaloora—while three are from Reshipora Pulwama—13-year-old boy, 34-year-old woman and 36-year-old man from Reshipora Pulwama and a 50-year-old doctor –Deputy Chief Medical officer Bandipora, a resident of Habbak Srinagar. The remaining tests came positive in GMC Jammu and private labs.
With these fresh cases, Anantnag now has 272 COVID-19 patients, highest in all districts, followed by Kulgam (198), Srinagar (179), Kupwara (164), Bandipora (139), Baramulla (136), Shopian (127), Jammu (72), Budgam (63), Kathua (41), Udhampur (33), Ramban (44), Ganderbal (27), Pulwama (25), Samba (20), Rajouri (10), Kishtwar (8), Poonch (6), Reasi 4 and Doda (1).
Government said till date 130197 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 32056 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 74 in Hospital Quarantine, 774 in hospital isolation and 26686 home surveillance. Besides, 70586 persons have completed their surveillance period. (with inputs from GNS)
