35 More Test Positive, J&K COVID-19 Tally Mounts To 701

Srinagar: 35 more persons tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Sunday, taking the number of COVID-19 patients in J&K to 701.
Among the fresh cases in the Valley, 24 were confirmed out of 826 samples at Viral Diagnostic Lab of SKIMS Soura, Professor Farooq Jan, medical superintendent of the tertiary hospital, said.
10 other cases, all from Anantnag were confirmed out of 846 samples tested at the COVID-19 testing laboratory at Chest Disease hospital Dalgate.
Sources said Kupwara reported 11 cases followed by Anantnag with 10, Budgam five, Shopian four, Baramulla three while Pulwama and Samba district recording one case each in last 24-hours.
Nine out of 11 cases from Kupwara are residents of Gonipora Handwara and include 3 and 11-year-old girls, four women aged 21, 40, 55 and 75 besides three men with one of them aged 45-years-old while two others are each 65-years-old while two others include a 40-year-old man from Warpora and a 44-year-old man from Neelipora Handwara.
Sources said that Anantnag cases include five persons from Pushoo Anantnag and include 3 and 14-years-old girls besides three women two of whom are aged 31 years each and other a 50-year-old. The other cases from the south Kashmir district include a 30-year-old woman from Shangus Anantnag, 26-year-old, and 55-year-old women from Kharpora while two others are a 33-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman from Hillar.
Budgam cases are family members of a person who tested positive for Covid-19 on May 1 and includes three women aged 30, 37, 50 besides a 4-year-old boy and a 42-year-old man from Charar-e-Sherief.
The four cases from Shopian include 14 and 18-years-old girls besides a 23-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man from Heerpora, one of the most affected areas in the southern Kashmir district.
Baramulla reported three cases and include 17-year-old youth besides 19-year-old and 24-year-old women from Hardu Chillo area.
Pulwama’s case is a 7-year-old girl from Drabgam area while Samba district reported one case, taking its tally to seven.
With these cases, Bandipora has 128 positive cases (91 active) followed by Srinagar with 106 cases (35 active), Anantnag 106 (104 active), Baramulla 91 (54 active), Shopian 81 (62 active), Kupwara 66 (43 active), Budgam 26 (14 active), Ganderbal 14 (no active case), 11 Kulgam (8 active), Pulwama 8 (5 active)
Similarly, Jammu has 26 positive cases and all of them have recovered followed by Udhampur 20 (2 Active, Samba 7 (3 active), Rajouri 4 (1 active) while Kathua, Kishtwar, Ramban and Reasi district have one case each and except for Kishtwar all of them are ‘active positive’ cases.
Meanwhile, according to the daily Media Bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 701 positive cases, 406 are active positive, 287 have recovered and eight have died.
Moreover, 33 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals and include two from Jammu Division and 31 from Kashmir Division.
It said that out of 26038 test results available, 25337 samples have tested as negative till May 03.
Furthermore, till date 75838 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which includes 10751 persons in-home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 183 in Hospital Quarantine, 406 in hospital isolation and 7104 under home surveillance. Besides, 57386 persons have completed their surveillance period.
