Covid-19 lockdown: Shopkeeper Among 17 Persons Arrested, 9 Vehicles Seized In Srinagar

Srinagar: Police on Monday said that seventeen persons were arrested for violating government’s prohibitory orders to prevent spread of coronavirus in Srinagar.
In a statement issued here, police said, the arrested persons include a shopkeeper. Besides it said, nine vehicles were seized for defying the restrictions imposed in view of Covid-19.
“In the jurisdiction of PS Nishat and PS Harwan, Police have arrested three persons including a shopkeeper and seized one vehicle for violating government prohibitory orders. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigation has been initiated,” a police spokesperson said.
He said in the jurisdiction of police stations of RM Bagh and Nowgam, Police have arrested nine persons and also seized eight vehicles for violating the prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC by District Magistrate Srinagar.
In the jurisdiction of police station Khanyar, he said, Police have arrested five persons and further investigation has been initiated.
“Police have once again requested the general public to follow the restrictions imposed by Government in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and those who are violating the restrictions will be dealt strictly,” it added.
