Pulwama: Family members of prisoners from Tral in this south Kashmir district on Friday expressed concern over the safety of their kin in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak that has gripped the whole world.
A group of women, some accompanied by kids, assembled near Additional Deputy Commissioner’s office in Tral and demanded the release of their family members lodged in different jails in and outside the J&K, mostly since August 05 last year.
One of the protesters said that her family’s main bread earner is under detention since August last year and due to the coronavirus there is a threat to his life.
The women protesters said that the kids of detainees are desperate to see their fathers and like other family members are concerned about their safety amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
“We request the government to ensure the release of our kin and bring them back to the valley as Coronavirus has gripped the world severely due to which we are worried,” the women said.
