JAMMU, APRIL 03: Principal, Government Medical College Jammu, Dr. Sunanda Raina today said no stone is being left unturned for the proper promotion and co-ordination of the activities in Jammu and Kashmir’s health care system to provide qualitative services in combating the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.
She made these remarks while chairing a meeting to discuss the various initiatives put in place by the Government Medical College Jammu in this regard.
During the meeting, it was given out that associated hospitals of Government Medical College Jammu have been entirely dedicated for treating COVID-19 cases to augment the isolation facilities. In this regard, it has been decided to suspend non-urgent operations and other treatments to free up capacity for COVID-19 cases in various designated hospitals.
Principal, GMC said that the idea behind dedicating some designated hospitals entirely for COVID-19 is to avoid intermingling them with other patients. She said that separation of the COVID-19 patients will prevent contraction of the virus. Furthermore, the triage OPD at GMC & SMGS as well as respiratory clinic has been created for the screening purposes, she said.
She said in COVID areas, PPE Kits are readily provided to the doctors as per the protocol. “In emergency area, N95 masks, triple layer and protective gowns are provided. In routine areas, triple layer masks, sanitizers as and when desired are provided. Proper care of all cadres is being taken and no one is deprived of any item when desired,” she added.
Appreciating the frontline health workers, she said the current crisis is demonstrating the essential, tireless and innovative role of health workers in ensuring strong, resilient health systems for everyone and everywhere.
“The GMC administration is thankful to all heads of the department, faculty members, doctors, consultants, residents, medical officers, demonstrators, interns, postgraduates, paramedical and nursing staff who are discharging their duties in this publicly declared health care emergency with zeal and high spirit,” Principal GMC said.
She appealed public to follow the advisories issued by the government from time to time in letter and spirit.
Principal GMC also urged public not pay heed to rumours or to the unverified reports on social media and sought support from public in hour of crisis.
