Youth shot dead in Anantnag

Srinagar: A 28-year-old youth was killed by unknown gunmen in Larkipora area of Fatehpora in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
A police officer said that the youth Mohammad Saleem Dar (28) son of Mohd Abdullah Dar, a resident of Larkipora, Fatehpora was fired upon by the suspected militants this evening.
Dar was taken to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag where doctors declared him brought dead, he said.
Soon after the incident, he said, a joint team of police and army launched searches in the area. the incident comes less than 24 hours of the killing of two persons in Kulgam by unidentified gunmen. The gunmen had fired at two civilians, identified as Siraj Ahmad Gorse and Ghulam Hassan Wagay, at Nandimarg in Kulgam at around 2320 hrs last night. “Both the persons, who received critical injuries in the firing, were rushed to a hospital, where they were declared brought dead,” officials said.
They said said the gunmen managed to escape from the spot under the cover of darkness. “Police has registered a case and initiated investigation into the incident,” he said.
After completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives for last rites.
