NPPA sanctions establishment of price monitoring unit in J&K

JAMMU: In order to monitor the availability of essential medicines in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir at affordable prices, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has accorded sanction to the establishment of Price Monitoring and Resource Unit (PMRU) in J&K. The Authority has identified Jammu & Kashmir as a Pilot location for implementation of Central Sector Scheme of NPPA-Consumer Awareness, Publicity and Price Monitoring.
The Price Monitoring and Resource Unit (PMRU) would function under the overall supervision and guidance of Drugs Controller, J&K and it would be the key collaborating partner of National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority in Jammu & Kashmir. The governing body of PMRU comprises of Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education Department, J&K as Chairman, Commissioner, FDA (J&K) as Vice-Chairman, State Drugs Controller, J&K as Member Secretary, Joint Drugs Controller, J&K, Director, National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority, New Delhi and President, J&K Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association as members.
Dr. Geer Mohammad Ishaq, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Kashmir, Srinagar shall discharge function as an Advisor to the body. The body is registered as a society under Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Act XXI of 1860).
