Srinagar: Kashmir High Court Bar Association has asked its team of lawyers to remain available in the Supreme Court on tomorrow so as to cause their appearance in the cases relating to the setting aside of Articles 35-A and 370 of the constitution of India, if those cases are taken up for consideration by the apex court.
The members include M. A. Qayoom (President), Mohammad Ashraf Bhat (General Secretary), Z. A. Shah (Senior Advocate & Executive Member), Z. A. Qureshi (Senior Advocate & Executive Member) and
Manzoor A. Dar (Advocate & Executive Member).
“It hardly needs to be mentioned that though the cases are shown in the weekly list commencing from 26th to 28th of March but were/are not shown in the daily list issued for 26th and 27th of March.”
However, listing of the cases in the daily supplementary list to be issued for March 28 can’t be ruled out, which necessitates the presence of the members in the court tomorrow, a spokesman of the amalgam said.
“Meanwhile, owing to the developments, it was decided in an emergency meeting of the Bar Association, that 23rd Martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Jalil Andrabi, Advocate, which falls on 27th of March, 2019, shall be held on Saturday, the 30th of March, 2019 and the work in the courts on the said date shall remain suspended to enable the members to participate in a seminar to be held on the said date in the District Court Complex, Moominabad Srinagar on the following topic: “Right of Self-determination and Indian repression in Kashmir,” the spokesman added.
