Dr. Samoon visits Rs 100 cr Bull Mother cum Dairy farm project in Kulgam

KULGAM: Principal Secretary Animal Husbandry/Sheep, Fisheries and Transport Dr. Asghar Samoon today inspected a mega Bull Mother cum Dairy Farm project in Brazloo Kulgam.

The concerned officers informed the Principal Secretary that the estimated project cost is Rs 100 crore and will be completed in a phased manner. With the setting up of the project, high genetic merit, HF and Jersey Cows will be added to the livestock of J&K.

Dr. Samoon said that with these high yielding cows white revolution will be realized in entire J&K particularly in District Kulgam.

Highlighting the need of high yielding cows for realizing the vision of the department in doubling the farmers income by the year 2024, Dr Samoon said two high yielding cows would be given to every beneficiary selected by a district level committee.

He also asked the officers to expedite the process of setting up of Liquid Nitrogen plants in every district.

During the visit Dr. Samoon also distributed free Veterinary Medicine kits among 30 farmers.

Later he visited Chancer Kulgam Hatchery and Trout Farm at Kulgam where he took stock of facilities available.

Earlier Dr. Samoon also visited Poultry Estate at Tral where 1100 Kanals of land has been transferred to the department.

On the occasion, he asked the concerned officers to expedite the process of setting up of required infrastructure and facilities there.

Dr Samoon also reviewed livestock infrastructure facilities in the area besides progress of different schemes for the benefit of farmers.

He was accompanied by DC Kulgam Showkat Aijaz Bhat, Director Animal Husbandry Purnima Mittal, Director Fisheries RN Pandita ADC Tral Shabir Ahmad Raina, and other senior officers.
