Updated: APM to meet President, PM; to apprise them of ‘unwholesome consequences’ if constitutional safeguards violated

Srinagar: Terming any attack on unique identity, special status, unconstitutional delimitation or trifurcation as an aggression against people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, All Party meeting presided over by National Conference president Farooq Abdullah decided to seek audience with President of India, Prime Minister and other political leaders to safeguard constitutional guarantees given to the state.
“It was unanimously resolved that all the parties would be united in the resolve to protect identify, autonomy and special status of the Jammu and Kashmir against all the attacks and onslaughts whatsoever,” Farooq told reporters after the All Party Meeting at his residence here. “Modification, abrogation of Article 35A, Article 370, unconstitutional delimitation or trifurcation of the state would be aggression against people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh,” he added.
“All the participants in the meeting resolved to seek audience with president of India, Prime Minister of India and other political leaders of political parties to apprise them of the current situation and issue an appeal to them to safeguard maximum interest of the people of the state with regard to safeguard legitimate safeguards guaranteed to the state by the constitution of country,” Farooq said.
“They will also apprise them of the unwholesome consequences bound to follow the unconstitutional violation of these guarantees,” he said, adding, “The representatives of the political parties resolved to remain together and stand united in their struggle for safeguarding identity autonomy and special status of the state.”
He also appealed people of the state on behalf of all the parties to maintain calm, patience and not take any step which will vitiate the peace in the state.
Farooq also appealed Indi and Pakistan not to take any step which will escalate tension between the two countries as it will badly impact both the countries and the people of the state.
While the meeting was presided over by Dr. Farooq Abdullah, it was attended by Ms. Mehbooba Mufti, President JKPDP, Patron PDP Muzaffar Hussain Beg, Abdul Rehman Veeri GS PDP, Sajad Ghani Lone Chairman JKPC, Imran Reza Ansari, Abdul Ghani Vakeel, Taj Mohiudin Vice Presidnet JKPCC, M Y Tarigami CPIM, Vice Presidnet JKNC Omar Abdullah, MPs of NC, Justice Hassnain Masoodi, Mohammad Akbar lone, provincial president JKNC Nasir Sogami, Shah Faesal, PUF, Ali Mohammad Sagar GS JKNC, Muzaffar Shah ANC, Uzair Ronga PUF and Suhail Bukhari PDP.
