Kupwara: Three persons were arrested in Handwara belt of north Kashmir’s Kupwara distric, with two ‘trying to kill police personnel’ while another has been detained with contraband substances. One of their accomplices, Police said, managed to escape.
The incident happened on Friday late evening, an official said on Saturday.
According to an official a police party was stone pelted by three persons as they tried get hold of an accused who was ferrying Brown sugar at By-pass Handwara.
While police managed to overpower them and apprehend three persons on spot but one of their associate managed to flee from the scene.
“We have arrested three persons, one along with Brown Sugar and other two in connection with stone pelting intending to kill police personals  while discharging duties, while one of their associate who managed to escape from the scene was identified as, Javaid Ahmad Mir, S/O Abdul Kabir a resident of Sadargund Handwara,” spokesperson said.
The spokesman further said that, two persons have been arrested in connection of attempt to kill on duty police officials and one under drug peddling, NDPS act,
Accordingly a FIR, 173/2019, U/S 8/21 NDPS act, 174/2019 U/S 307,341,353 RPC stands registered in Police station Handwara, subsequently search for the absconder is going on  and further probe  has been launched.
