Weatherman forecasts pleasant weather in rain drenched Kashmir Valley till weekend

Srinagar: The prolonged rainy spell would slump into a subdued phase for at least three days as the meteorological department on Friday forecast “pleasant weather” till weekend. The weather forecast is something that must give some respite to the people of the rain-drenched Kashmir Valley.”Very pleasant weather conditions for next 3 days. Only very light rain at one or two places on 7th, 8th and 9th June in J&K (afternoons),” the weatherman said on Friday. The rains have already brought mercury below normal during the night as Srinagar, the summer capital of the state, recorded minimum of 10.1 degrees Celsius against 13.4 degrees Celsius during this time of the year.
Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, also saw mercury below 4 degrees Celsius than the normal as it recorded a low of 8.0 degrees Celsius last night. Similarly, according to an official of the local meteorological department, famous hill resort of Pahalgam witnessed a minimum of 5.5 degrees Celsius, nearly two degrees below normal, while Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, had a low of 7.2 degrees Celsius against 12.2 degrees Celsius normal for this time of the year.
North Kashmir’s Kupwara recorded minimum of 8.9 degrees Celsius against 11.7 normal of degrees Celsius while Gulmarg, the world famous skiing resort in Baramulla district of the region, recorded a minimum of 4.0 degrees Celsius, 4.7 degrees Celsius below the actual during early June, the Met official added.
