Anantnag: In a major haul, Food And Safety Department has raided a whole sale dealer in Cheeni chowk in Anantnag district where adulterated tea worth Rs 5 lacs was repackaged into bags of popular brands and supplied to markets

Officials said that they had conducted the raid at Rangshu Kiryana Merchants at Cheeni Chowk Anantnag after they received a tip-off about the fraud.

Zameer Beigh, designated food safety officer Anantnag, along with a team conducted a surprise raid and found empty bags of branded companies.

“Some bags were mixed and packaged by owner with low grade tea,” officials said.
