Pulwama: Two militants were killed in an encounter with government forces in Nanar area of Tral in Pulwama district on Friday.  “On a credible input, a and search operation was launched jointly by police and security forces at Nanner in Midoora area of Awantipora, a police spokesman said. During the search operation, the hiding militants fired on the search party and the fire was retaliated, leading to an encounter, he said. In the ensuing encounter, two militants were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter he said. The identities and affiliation of the killed terrorists is being ascertained, he said. “Incriminating material including and ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter,” he added. Meanwhile, reports said that the house where the militants were hiding was damaged completely after it was blasted and razed into rubble by the government forces.
The authorities have also suspended internet services in Police District Awantipora following the gunfight.
