Students clash with forces in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Sopore

Srinagar: Class work has been effected following clashes broke out between students and government forces in Srinagar, Ganderbal and Sopore on Tuesday noon.

In Srinagar’s Islamia College of Science and Commerce students marched on the road and blocked the vehicular movement while raising pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan slogans.

Police swung into action and cleared the road triggering clashes between the two sides.

In Sopore’s Government degree college students tried to march on roads which was thwarted by government forces deployed in the region.

Forces resorted to teargas shelling following which class work was suspended in the college.

Protests broke out between students and government forces in Ganderbal at Government degree college.

Students had blocked road and were protesting over militant killings including of recent killed AGH militant Zakir Rashid Bhat alias Zakir Musa.

“Police resorted to tear gas shelling to disperse protesting students.” eyewitnesses said.

Clashes were going on in Sopore and Ganderbal when last reports came in.
