Div Com, IGP inspect, review Jammu-Srinagar highway

RAMBAN. MAY 25: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma along with Inspector General of Police (IGP), M K Sinha, today inspected National highway in district Ramban and reviewed the arrangements for smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2019.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner (DC), Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Baht, SSP, Anita Sharma, SSP Traffic, JS Johar, ADC Dr. Basharat Hussain, they inspected langer sites along the national highway from Batote, Dharmoud to Jawhar tunnel and interacted with the representatives of organisers.
The Div. Com lead team inspected various Halt poirnts, Parking slots and shelter sheds at Dharmoud, Ramban, Thethar, Nogam, developed for the yatris. The Div Com directed the district administration to ensure necessary arrangement at all points.
The DC Ramban appraised Div. com about the arrangements made by various departments for convenience of yatris. The Div Com asked the officers to put in place effective response mechanism with active emergency control numbers. He stressed on successful disaster management mechanism with quick rescue teams to deal with exigencies, if any arises.
“Make sure that arrangements concerning each department are put in place in time so that the pilgrims do not have to face any inconvenience on this account” the Div Com ordered.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the district administration to maintain all designated accommodation sites for Yatra besides preparing temporary toilets at langer sites besides ensuring un-interrupted power and water supply in all identified locations.
Div. Com also inspected the ongoing construction work of National Highway four laning and directed the concerned agencies to ensure smooth and safer passage of the traffic by maintaining potholes, drainages, sprinkling of water on road.
He directed the construction companies to ensure proper maintenance of NH44 at all crucial places from Nashri to Jawahar tunnel for providing hassle free road journey to the Yatries. Div. Com and IGP also reviewed the security aspect of the Yatra.
He informed that adequate man and machineries has been deployed on National Highway from Nashri to Banihal especially at Maroge, Anokhifall, Battery Chasma, Digdol and other venerable location on highway to deal with emergency.
