Dr Suhail Naik, President DAK while welcoming the move said that Letter of Permission (LOP) for starting the admission to MBBS courses for other New Government Medical Colleges of Kathua, Rajouri and Doda is also expected in days. The cumulative addition of new MBBS seats will be about 400 to 450 seats from current year as per sources.

Dr Owais H Dar, General secretary DAK said that addition of 400 plus odd seats is a historic move and will be the turning point in Medical Education history and delivery of medicare services in the hilly state of Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier hundreds of aspiring candidates used to go to neighbouring states and other countries to study MBBS courses expending huge amounts of money. This will be put to an end as addition of 400 plus seats will fulfill the aspirations of large number of students. Meanwhile the delivery of secondary and tertiary medicare services has already taken jump due to establishment of new Medical Colleges and their associated hospitals with recruitment of faculty and additional staff.

Doctors  Association Kashmir (DAK) thanked the Hon’ble Advisor to Govt. Of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri K Vijay Kumar and Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education, Shri Attal Dullo for thieir tremendous and dedicated role in acheiving this historic feat.
DAK also thanks the crucial role played by Director Coordinator New Medical Colleges, Dr Yashpal Sharma and, Principals and Medical Superintendents of New Medical colleges and Associated hospitals without whom it would have not been possible.

We are hopeful that new Medical Colleges and Associated hospitals will emerge as hub of Medical studies with delivery of best Medicare facilities for public at large.
