Student Voices For Justice To Sumbal Minor Girl Grow Shriller

Ganderbal, Kupwara, Annatnag, Pulwama: Hundreds of students from different parts of Kashmir Valley on Monday voiced their protests against the gruesome rape of a minor girl from Sumbal Bandipora and demanded exemplary punishment to culprit.
Ganderbal
Students of Degree college and Central University Ganderbal staged a protest against rape of the girl.
According to reports, scores of students and a peaceful protest marched from College complex upto Beehama chowk Ganderbal. They were demanding stern punishment to accused involved.
Kupwara
Students of government degree college Kupwara on Monday afternoon clashed with government forces following the protest march, demanding capital punishment to the rapist of Sumbal minor girl.
Reports said that students including girls and boys raising slogans marched from College towards main town Kupwara. Upon reaching Bohipora bridge near water pump shed, government personnel, deployed in the area, intercept the protesters.
In the meantime, some protesters started to stone pelting upon the government forces, leading to clashes. The government forces fired tear smoke shells upon the protesters, leading to intense clashes.
Reports of protesters were also received from near DC and SSP complex.
The students of Model Womens Degree College Kupwara also held a protest demonstration in Salkoote upto SSP and DDC complex Kupwara, demanding justice for the minor girl.
Reports said that scores of girl students marched from Salkoote through main town Kupwara to deputy Commissioner’s Office, raising slogans in favour of the minor.
The students said that many rape incidents have surfaced in past but to date none of the accused has been sentenced. “We demand fast track enquiry into the incident and accused to be dealt under law strictly.” The protesting students raised slogans like, “Yahan kya Chaleyga Nizame Mustafe”.
Tral
The students of Government Degree College in Tral staged a peaceful protest demonstration near Bus Stand area against the rape of the minor girl.
The protest rally was taken out by the students, who were demanding justice for the victim and stern action against the accused.
Earlier, protests were held in IUST Awantipora, and other institutions of valley, where students demanded justice for the victim girl and punishment for the accused.
Anantnag
Students of women’s collage Anantnag, ITI collage Ashajipora Anantnag, and government Girls Higher secondary school Ranibag Anantnag took out separate protest rallies against the rape of the minor girl on May 08.
Sources said that the students, raising slogans, were demanding exemplary punishment to the accused.
The protestors later dispersed off peacefully at their respective collages and schools.
However clashes erupt in Ganziwara area of Anantnag district where some 10 to 15 youth pelted stones on 40 BN CRPF Camp near Ganjiwara Anantnag. The CRPF personnel fired several tear gas shells and dispersed the protesters, an official confirmed to INS.
