Highway open, stranded vehicles allowed to move

Srinagar: Following clearance of blockade caused by massive landslide, only stranded vehicles will be allowed to ply on Srinagar Jammu Highway on Saturday.
The road was reopened for traffic on Friday night after two days of closure due to landslides in Ramban district.
According to officials at traffic department only the stranded vehicles have been allowed to move towards respective destinations.
Massive landslide in Ramban occurred on Wednesday evening blocking the strategic highway that connects the Kashmir valley with rest of the worlds.
Officials said as they were clearing the debris another landslide came down on road at Digdol.
The Highway remained closed for two straight days and almost 3000 vehicles were stuck over mountainous road.
“2500 heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) and 500 light motor vehicles (LMVs) were stranded at different parts of the highway,” officials said.
