Srinagar: A yellow- throated marten was found in Awoora area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, creating panic among the villagers especially children.

Reports said that as soon as news about the presence of the animal spread in the villager, people rushed out and captured it. Later they called police and wild life officials who rushed to the area took it into their custody.

A wildlife department official said that animal is widely found in the woods and doesn’t harm the animals.

With the tail making up more than half its length, the animal’s fur is brightly colored, consisting of a unique blend of black, white, golden-yellow and brown, the official said.

He said that animal would be released back to into the jungle.
