Srinagar: The mercury dipped in this summer capital of the state and other parts of the Kashmir Valley after overnight light rains.
A meteorological department official said that Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 7.4 degrees Celsius against 9.7 degrees Celsius normal for this time of the season.
The official said that Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a low of 6.2 against 8.5 degrees Celsius normal during the night and had a rainfall of 3.0 mm. The mercury in Kokernag town in south Kashmir last night settled at a low of 5.7 degrees Celsius against normal of 8.4 degrees Celsius and it had 7.2mm of rain, highest in entire Valley, the official said.
The famous health resort of Pahalgam, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 3.9 degrees Celsius last night against normal of 4.9 degrees Celsius and had rainfall of 5.6mm.
Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a minimum of 5.9 degrees Celsius against normal of 8.4 degrees Celsius.
Gulmarg, the famous ski-resort in north Kashmir, witnessed a low of 2.5 degrees Celsius against 4.3 degrees Celsius normal for this time of the year.
