Srinagar: A shutdown is being observed for second running day in Anantnag over the killing of two local militants in an encounter with government forces at Bijbehara area of the south Kashmir district yesterday.
Shops and other business establishments are closed along with schools and colleges in the district even as public transport is mainly of the roads, reports said. Internet services are also closed in the district.
On Thursday morning, Safdar Amin of Bijbehara and Burhan Ahmad Ganaie alias Saifullah of Anantnag, both affiliates of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen were killed in the gunfight with joint team of army’s 3 RR, J&K police’s SOG and CRPF at Bagender Mohalla in Bijbehara on wee hours.
Thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of both the militants at their respective native places
Authorities also snapped internet in Anantnag at the crack of the gunfight and when this report was filed, the services remained suspended.
