Anantnag: The militants killed an encounter with government forces at Bijbhera in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have been identified as locals and one of them had left BUMS physiotherapy studies to join the militant ranks.

Officials identified the slain as Burhan-ud-Din Ganie son of Mohammad Sidiq Ganie of SK Colony Anantnag. He had left BUMS physiotherapy studies to join militant ranks in June last year, sources said. Other militant has been identified as Sabdar Amin son of Mohammad Amin of Zirpora Bijbhera. Bodies of the slain have been handed over to the families for last rites, they said.

They were killed in the gunfight with a joint team of Army’s 3RR, SOG of J&K Police in Bagdaram village of Bijbehara.

Meanwhile mobile internet was suspended in Anantnag as precautionary measures even as restrictions have been imposed in main town to prevent any protests.
