Minor raped in Sopore, accused arrested

Sopore: A 12-year-old girl (name with held) was allegedly raped by 40-year-old man in Mahrajpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. The accused has been arrested after the family members of minor girl approached the police.

This incident took place on Monday when a 12-year-old girl went to school but didn’t return. The accused namely Fayaz Ahamd Shakar allegedly took 12-year-old girl in magic Alto and raped her.

Police said that they said girl returned home in a subconscious condition and told the family about the crime. The infuriated family members went to Sopore Police Station to lodge their complaint, following which a case on charges of rape registered against the accused.

A medical examination of the girl was carried out on Monday and confirmed about rape. A case FIR No. 107/2019 has been registered in PS-Sopore under section 363/376 RPC and investigation has also been initiated to ascertain the motive behind this heinous crime.
