Sopore: Students of Govt middle school Mahrajpora Sopore area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district are suffering badly as the surroundings of the school have been turned into an open garbage dumping site. Health hazards have increased as foul smell has spread in the locality and stray dogs roam around the area.
The students claimed that last year, during summer days, at least 50 students were to be given medical care after they fell unconscious due to prevailing foul smell in the area.
Additional Deputy commissioner Ashiq Hussian Lilly told INS that he will take up the matter with Executive officer Sopore and will order of lifting the garbage from school surrounding.
Executive Officer Sopore Lateef Ahmad Mir claimed they are helpless in the issue.
“We took up this Issue to DDC Baramulla but all in vain. He said we can’t do anything until we get proper response from Divisional Kashmir”.
“I am very ashamed of the situation in the school, I could not stay there for five minutes. I am filled with shame how those students are suffering,” Zonal Education officer Miss Fahmeeda told INS.
