Srinagar: Government on Friday imposed restrictions in parts of Srinagar’s old city including Nowhatta, housing the historic Jamia Masjid.
Reports said that barricades have been erected at several places and people are not being allowed to move.
The barricades and concertina wires have been spread across the road breadth at Hawal, Gojwara, Nowhatta, Khaniyar and adjoining areas.
A police officer said that restrictions have been imposed as precautionary measure to prevent any “law and order situation.” While sources said that restrictions have been imposed in wake of the clashes amid gas cylinder blast in central jail Srinagar, the police officer insisted that the curbs were not linked to the incident
