Amid forecast of dry weather till weekend, night temp falls slightly in Kashmir

Srinagar: Amid forecast of dry weather upto weekend, the night temperature fell a little below normal across the Kashmir Valley, weatherman said on Monday.
A meteorological department official said that Srinagar, the summer capital of the state, recorded a minimum temperature of 5.3 degrees Celsius last night against 6.4 degrees Celsius normal for this time of the season.
The official said that Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a low of 5.8 degrees Celsius while the mercury in Kokernag town in south Kashmir settled at a low of 6.7 degrees Celsius. Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a minimum of 1.6 degrees Celsius. Gulmarg, the famous ski-resort in north Kashmir, witnessed a low of minus 1.2 degrees Celsius, -0.4 degrees Celsius less than the normal for this time of the year. The famous health resort of Pahalgam recorded a minimum of 1.0 degrees Celsius against normal of 1.7 degrees Celsius, the official added.
