Srinagar: Five members of a family were among six persons killed when a vehicle plunged into a deep gorge in Rajouri district of Jammu on Sunday, officials said.
They said that a private vehicle en route to Darhal town from Rajouri went out of the driver’s control while negotiating a curve and plunged into a gorge at Ujhan-Dhandkote around 12.30 a.m.
The local residents launched a rescue operation immediately and were joined by police parties and a team of doctors and paramedics, they said.
Four persons were found dead on the spot while three others were rescued in a critical condition. Two of the injured succumbed at the community health centre, Darhal, on Sunday morning, they added. One lone survivor was shifted in critical condition to Jammu for specialised treatment, they added.
