Shopian: Thousands of people participated in the funeral prayers of slain Shopian militants, killed in a gunfight with government forces at Gadapora Shopian on Friday.

Locals claimed that at Harmain and Arhama, thousands gathered to take part in last rites of slain militants, while raising pro-freedom and pro-militant slogans.

They claimed that some militants appeared at the funeral of slain Yasir Ahmad shah and fired many shots in the air.

Shah of Arhama was killed along with his associate Showkat Ahmad in Gadhapora area of shopian on Friday.

Showkat was ex SPO who decamped with the service rifle of his colleague from police station Shopian on August 25 last year.
