Anantnag: One of the two persons killed in a grenade blast at bus stand Jammu was sole breadwinner, said his family on Sunday.
Reyaz Ahmad Pala (in his late 20s), a shawl vendor, was killed along with 17-year-old Mohammad Shariq from Uttarakhand in the blast at bus stand Jammu on Thursday.
Reyaz succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu on Friday. Reyaz is survived by his old aged parents who live in a two-story mud house.
In his village—Akura Mattan in this south Kashmir district—Reyaz’s death was met with shock and disbelief. Friends and neighbours wonder how the family, poor and without any substantial source of income, will cope.
Talking to the INS, Reyaz’s close relative said that he was very ill and was accompanied by his friend from Rajasthan to home. “Reyaz told his friend to take medicines for him while he took a rest inside bus stand in Jammu.” As the fate had it, the blast took place and Reyaz suffered grave splinter injuries and died a day later at GMC Jammu where he was admitted.
The family appealed both India and Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir issue. “Let there be no miseries for anyone else,” he added.
