Gulmarg, Pahalgam receive fresh snow, overnight rains lash other parts of Valley

Srinagar: Gulmarg, the world famous skiing place, and the hill resort of Pahalgam witnessed fresh snowfall while other areas of Valley including this summer capital of the state witnessed rains overnight, meteorological department said on Thursday.
A MeT official told INS that Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 3.8 Degrees Celsius last night and 0.7 mm of rainfall in 24 hours till 8:30 a.m. Gulmarg, the famous ski-resort in north Kashmir, witnessed 5 centimetres of fresh snow and recorded a low of minus 3.5 degrees Celsius while the famous health resort of Pahalgam witnessed 3cms of snow and registered a minimum of minus 3.6 degrees Celsius.
Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of 1.2 degrees Celsius and saw rainfall of 1mm, he said. The official said that Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, received 1.8mm of rain and recorded a low of 2.7 degrees Celsius while the mercury settled at minus 0.1 degrees Celsius in Kokernag town which witnessed 1.8mm of rain.
