DGP, Div Com among many officers attend wreath laying ceremony of DySP Aman Kumar

Srinagar: Civil and Police Officers led by DGP J&K Police Dilbagh Singh (IPS) attended wreath laying ceremony of DySP Aman Kumar who was killed in an encounter with militants at Kulgam in south Kashmir on Sunday.
An army Major was also injured in the gunfight in which three militants were also killed and two of them have been identified as Rakib Ahmad Sheikh of Shiganpora, Kulgam and Gulzar Ahmad Bhatt of Turipora Kulgam, the village in which the gunfight took place.
The wreath laying ceremony was attended by IGP Ops CRPF Zulfikar Hassan-IPS, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan, IGP Kashmir S. P. Pani, IG CRPF Ravideep Sahai, Range DIsG, DC Srinagar Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary .
A police spokesman said that DySP Aman Kumar was a 2011 batch KPS Officer who was “leading from the front in this operation”
“He had been heading the counter militancy wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police in District Kulgam from last one and a half year and had played an instrumental role in killing the dreaded (militants) in the area,” the spokesman said.
DySP Aman Kumar was known for his simplicity, plain speaking and thorough professionalism and was known for his determination and valour, the spokesman said. A resident of Gogla district Doda, DySP Aman Kumar is survived by aged parents, wife Sarla Devi and 6-year-old son Arya.
