One foot of fresh snow piles up in Gulmarg as rains lash most parts of Kashmir

Srinagar: Gulmarg, the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, witnessed fresh snowfall along with other areas of north Kashmir while remaining parts of the Valley including this summer capital of the state witnessed rains.
A meteorological department official said Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 0.6 Degrees Celsius last night and 8.8mm of rainfall in 24 hours till 8:30 a.m.
Gulmarg, the famous ski-resort in north Kashmir, massed 29 centimetres (one foot) of fresh snow and recorded a low of minus 3.2 degrees Celsius while the famous health resort of Pahalgam witnessed 23.8mm of rain and registered a minimum of minus 0.1 degrees Celsius.
Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of 0.2 degrees Celsius and saw snowfall of 11 centimetres, he said.
The official said that Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir saw 22.5mm of rainfall and recorded a low of 1.2 degrees Celsius while the mercury settled at 1.0 degrees Celsius in Kokernag town, also in south Kashmir.
The weatherman has forecast widespread moderate rains and snow at most places in Jammu and Kashmir in next 24 hours.
