Saudi Arabia on Monday has vowed to “de-escalate” rising tensions between the two nuclear arch rivals Pakistan and India.
The comments were made by Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, during a presser with his counterpart Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Pakistan.
“Our objective is to try to de-escalate tensions between the two countries, neighbouring countries, and to see if there is a path forward to resolving those differences peacefully,” said Saudi Foreign Jubeir, Express Tribune reported.
According to report he reiterated Saudi Arabia’s resolve to strengthen ties on every front including security, trade and the economy.
The pledge came as the crown prince prepared to head for India later Monday, at the conclusion of his two-day visit to Islamabad.
“We want both countries (India and Pakistan) to resolve their conflicts and have peaceful relations,” he said.
Tensions between the two countries is rising following a deadly car bomb attack on CRPF in Kashmir in which almost 49 personnel died.
