Governor chairs high-level meeting on J&K highways in New Delhi

New Delhi: A high level meeting, under the Chairmanship of Governor, J&K, Satyapal Malik was held here on Tuesday.
Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways and Dr. Jitendera Singh, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Officers, participated in the meeting.
The Chief Secretary, J&K, BVR Subrahmanyam, Union Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, Managing Director, NHIDCL, Principal Resident Commissioner J&K, Commissioner (Indus) and other senior officers from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Ministry of Water Resources were present.
The meeting reviewed the progress of various ongoing Projects of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Ministry of Water Resources in Jammu & Kashmir. The meeting was informed that the Rs. 5850.00 cr Ujh Multipurpose Project has already has already been approved by the CEC and Ministry of Water Resources. The Ministry of Water Resources was requested to get the PIB approval expeditiously so that the above mentioned project could start within this month.
Similarly the meeting discussed the status of approvals on Chenani-Sudhmahadev Road and Jammu-Akhnoor Road. It was mentioned that more than 90% of the land for both stands handed over to NHIDCL. NHEDCL assured that the work on these two roads will be taken up within this month. The meeting also discussed various issues relating to the implementation of prestigious Jammu & Srinagar Ring Roads, Zozila and Z Mor tunnels and took decisions for their speedy implementation, in the overall interest of the State.
