Srinagar: Amid forecast for another wet spell, night temperatures across the Kashmir Valley hovered below sub-zero levels, weather office said here on Tuesday.
A meteorological department official said Srinagar—the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir – recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1 degrees Celsius last insight against 0.4 degrees Celsius on previous night.
The official said the mercury in Qazigund and Kokernag towns in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 3.2 degrees Celsius and minus 3.9 degrees Celsius respectively.
Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 4.4 degrees Celsius, he said.
Gulmarg, the famous ski-resort in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 5.0 degrees Celsius while the famous health resort of Pahalgam registered a minimum of minus 3.9 degrees Celsius.
“On 12th evening to 15th noon, afresh WD (western disturbance) will most likely affect JK, the system will move from north west to south east and again pirpanjal range from Gulmarg to Bhaderwah will have moderate to heavy rain snow on February 13-14,” said the meteorological department official here.
