5 militants killed in Kulgam gunfight, ten people injured in clashes

Kulgam: Five militants were killed in a gun battle with government forces in Kellam area of South Kashmir’s kulgam district on Sunday.
Official sources said that five militants have been killed and their bodies recovered. The encounter ensued after army’s 9 RR and SOG Kulgam launched cordon and search operation in the area.
As the search was intensified, the hiding militants fired upon the joint team of forces in which was retaliated triggered gunfight and exchange of fire is going on.
Ten persons were injured due to pellet firing by government forces to chase away protesters who rushed towards gunfight site. Meanwhile internet has been suspended in Kulgam as precautionary measures.
