AGDP asks cops to keep vigil on cash, arms movement in poll bound areas

Jammu: Muneer Ahmad Khan (IPS), ADGP Security, Law and Order, visited Kathua and reviewed security scenario along international border and interstate border, a police spokesman said on Saturday.
“During his visit he interacted with territorial officers and took stock of the present scenario with regards to maintenance of Law /order and security of the area,” he said.
SSP Kathua briefed ADGP about the security measures taken up to secure international and interstate borders.
“Besides, Interstate checkpoints at strategic locations have been established and foolproof border security grid is in place along international border.”
ADGP also chaired meeting with the officers of the interstate border districts Chamba (HP) and Pathankot Punjab.
In the meeting Shridhar Patil, SSP Kathua , Ms.Monika SP Chamba , Hempushap Sharma SP (OPS) Pathankot and district territorial officers were present.
During the interstate coordination meeting ADGP emphasized for strong mechanism among interstate districts for free, fair and peaceful conduct of forthcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
He further highlighted issues like illegal movement of illicit liquor, cash, arms and ammunition and criminals in poll bound area across the interstate border and sealing of interstate borders which needs to be checked.
“He also advised the officers for abrupt sharing of intelligence and stressed for all possible support from adjoining state as well as interstate districts to poll bound area.”
