Srinagar: The essential services were restored across Kashmir division on war footing basis following prompt response by the concerned departments, government claimed on Friday.
Government had already made zone and location wise action and management plan across the valley to prevent interruption in services due to the heavy snowfall. Zonal teams from concerned departments were constituted to meet any exigency during the inclement weather.
District and departmental control rooms are working 24×7. Joint control rooms set up in every zone are being monitored by main control room at Deputy Commissioner’s office to review daily operations. Men and Machinery were put on job in advance which yielded good results and restored all essential services on war footing basis across the valley amid heavy snowfall.
This was revealed in a meeting chaired by the Divisional Commissioner Baseer Ahmad Khan to review ground zero restoration work for restoration of essential services including power and water supply, snow clearance on roads, availability of essential commodities, supply of medicines and other important services – temporally affected by the unabated snowfall.
The meeting further informed that all concerned departments pressed their men and machinery on job amidst heavy snowfall and restored the essential services within hours across the valley yesterday evening. For quick snow clearance operations, MED deployed 155 snow clearance machines and snow cutters across the valley, while SMC started the snow clearance operations during the night. Now, snow has been cleared on all roads and there is sufficient stocking of essential commodities in every district of the valley, the meeting was told.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the essential service departments to work with utmost dedication and synergy to meet any exigency in future also.
Regarding round the clock health care facilities, he called upon the hospital administrations to put in extra efforts to provide best services to the patients in the prevailing harsh conditions.
Khan said that the people have high expectations from the administration especially in winter months and officers must fulfill these with missionary spirit.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Chief Engineers of MED, PDD, PHE, R&B, Joint Commissioner SMC, Deputy Director Health Services and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
