Srinagar: A militant killed in an encounter with government forces in Chakoora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district has been identified as district commander of Lashker-e-Toiba on Wednesday.
Reports said that as the joint forces of 55 RR, SOG Pulwama and CRPF were conducting searches in the area, they came under fire from militants, triggering the firefight. In the exchange of fire, one militant has been killed.
The slain militant has been identified as Irfan Ahmad Sheikh of Chakoora Pulwama. He was district commander of Pulwama and was active since last year, official sources said.
