Srinagar: Government Medical College Srinagar has launched into inquiry into the heartbreaking incident in which a new born breathed his last at  GB Pant Hospital. Family accuses negligence of staff has lead to the burn injuries to the infant and subsequent death.

According to the family of the deceased baby girl had received serious burns in lower limbs as hospital staff didn’t look after the baby in the critical area during the night and on the subsequent day i.e on February 3 the infant breathed her last.

The family belongs to Kreeri area of Baramulla district.

They accused hospital staff of leaving baby unattended during the night when the heating blower was close to her, exposure to which resulted in serious burns to her lower limbs.

Father of the baby Ajaz Ahmad Wani said that her daughter was admitted to the Neonate ICU on February 1 after referred from Noora Hospital for specialised treatment.

Hospital authorities have claimed that the baby was was suffering from a rare disorder that resulted burn like marks.

They claimed that the baby was termanally ill and suffering from a rare disorder called Disseminated intravascular coagulation which resulted in blood clot in vessels.

The GB hospital has denied any negligence in the case.
