Srinagar: Meteorological department on Saturday said weather shall remain mainly dry till evening of Tuesday throughout the state even as mercury hovered below zero degrees Celsius in Kashmir.
“Weather to remain mainly dry till 5th (evening) throughout the state,” Director meteorological department Sonam Lotus said.
Meanwhile, Srinagar, the summer capital of the state, recorded a low of minus 0.4 degrees Celsius.
The famous hill resort of Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 9.2 degrees Celsius while Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, saw a low of minus 4.0 degree Celsius while Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 4.3 degrees Celsius.
The MeT official said that the mercury at the famous ski-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir settled at minus 10.5 degrees Celsius last night and was the coldest place in entire Kashmir Valley. Kupwara in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 1.9 degree Celsius, the official said.
Reports said there was light snowfall in Kokernag in last 24 hours and depth according to the weather office was 4.4 centimeters.
