Kupwara: Police on Thursday recovered contraband substance, Brown sugar, of Rs 70 Crore worth from Kralpora area of Kupwara district and detained two accused.

The two accused belonging to Karnah were arrested from Kralpora area of the district along 19 kilograms of Brown sugar worth 70 Crore in international market.

Police said that they have cracked a big consignment of Pakastani Narcotics transported through border.

Adressing a press conference, SSP Kupwara, Shririam Ambarkar said that, peliminary investigation into the case has revealed that, the consignments was transported from Paksitan.

“All the Armed and intelligance forces are hand in hand trying best to eliminate such practices from grossroot level from the society but we need support of locals to inform us timely to put an halt on such practices which are involving the youth and disrupting peace in valley,” Ambarkar said.

He said that on specific inputs regarding the transport of huge consignment of about 19 Kilograms of Brown sugar they had put up a naka checking in kralpora.

“ Two persons driving a sumo vehicle bearing registration number, Jk01R-4584, Carrying the Smuggled drugs from Pakistani to other part of the valley were apprehended,” he said.

A case Under NDPSC, With FIR Number, 2/2019, has been registered further investigation into the incident is on.
