Mendhar Jammu: Govt forces launch major search operation, seal off many areas

Jammu: Government forces on Monday launched a major search operation to flush out militants in Mankote area in Poonch district on winter capital of state of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to police officials the operation was launched after ‘suspicious movement’ of militants in the area.

Officials said that large contingent of forces have laid siege over the area and search operation is underway in the area including in Baloni and Ghani areas in Kishan Ghati sectors, which they claim has a thick forest cover.

The operation, he said, is being jointly conducted by Army’s 37 and 39 RR, SOG and Mendhar police.

The area is close to the Line of Control.
