Pulwama : Around 36 villages in Tral continues to face hardships due to the pathetic condition of Tral-Satoora road, which has turned into potholes now with no intervention from condemned authorities.
The aggrieved locals of these villages have said that, work on the road was started “two years” back but nothing has been done so far as the widening work of the road is going on “with snail’s pace”
They said that “commuters as well as drivers are facing inconveniences on daily basis” as there’s no alternative for them to avoid this mess which is day by day increasing.
A delegation of locals said that “at the time rains the road is turning into stream” as potholes have developed on the road in each and every spot.
They said that “concerned authorities have turned blind eye into the matter” as they failed to mitigate the issues faced by locals in last few years due to the dilapidated conditions of the road.
“Two years have passed but government is not taking any concrete step to mitigate our woes. We are facing huge inconveniences in winters as the roads always gets inundated,” locals said, adding that they “bear the brunt” of this pathetic road since years which is “the matter of serious concern”
A delegation of drivers also expressed resentment against concerned authorities for failing to repair 12 kilometer long Tral-Satoora road and said that “it is an open injustice for drivers” as their “vehicles are getting affected due to it”
Both locals and drivers have requested concerned authorities to look into the matter as early as possible and repair the road to mitigate their sufferings.
The 36 areas which are affected due to the pathetic condition of this road include : Diver, Padibal, Monghama, Dhobiwan, Gamraz, Batagund, Kuchmullah, Nadar, Lurgam, Panzoo, Khasipora, Nahir, Gulshanpora, Pastuna, Seer, Lurow, Wager, Midoora, Nanar, Takiya, Aripal, Dharamgund, Gadpora, Lam, Daar, Khanagund, Guteng, Yangwen, Satoora, Sofigund, Narastan, Zooastan, Hajin, Wantinaad, Pranigam, Gutroo.
Assistant Executive Engineer, Roads and Buildings department in Tral, Zahoor Ahmad Shah, when contacted, told INS that, they are busy in constructing a bridge in Dhobiwan area due to which work has been suspended.
He further said that, constant change in weather is not allowing the men and machinery to proceed for concrete work.
When asked about back to back delays in work from last two years, he said that “PHE line is parallel to the road which is giving tough time to us”
“I am trying my best to get the things possible. PHE department must cooperate with us in avoiding more delays by relocating their line,” Shah said.
