Jammu: Over 800 vehicles, mainly passengers were allowed to move towards Srinagar from Jammu as the highway, only thoroughfare connecting Kashmir Valley with rest of the world, reopened after more than six days of closure.
IGP Traffic Alok Kumar told INS that more 800 vehicles have been allowed to proceed towards Srinagar from Jammu.
“The drivers are requested not to overtake as there are fresh landslides occurring around Anokha fall in Ramban district,” Kumar said.
The highway has been closed for six days and half days and stranded along the highway as well as on Jammu bus stand had been alleging neglect by the government. People stranded in Jammu had been demanding airlifting but government turned a deaf ear to their demand.
