Shopian: Within six kilometers radius in this southern Kashmir district, massive funerals are taking place for six militants killed in two separate encounters in last two days. Three militant each were killed at Hapatnar in central Kashmir’s Budgam district and Heff Shirmal village of this district. All of them are natives of Shopian and Pulwama where a complete shutdown in being observed.
Reports said thousands of people thronged the native villages of the slain militants early Wednesday morning and they included men, women and children.
Multiple rounds of funeral prayers were already held for the slain militants with thousands of people participating in them.
Syed Ali Geelani, chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) addressed mourners at the funeral of one of the slain Sham-ul-Haq, whose brother, Inam-ul-Haq, is an IPS officer who is currently posted in Northeast,
Shams-ul-Haq studied at public model high school sugan Shopian from 1999 to 2008 and was pursuing Bachelors of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) from Government Unani College Zakoora in Srinagar before joining militancy in May last year.
Besides Shamsul Haq Mengnoo alias Burhan Sani of Dragad, funerals were also offered for his two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen associates, Aamir Ahmad Bhat alias Abu Huzaif of Chidipora and Shohaib Ahmad Shah of Shirmal.
Apart from them, funeral prayers were also offered for three militants of Al-Badar militant outfit— Sabzar Ahmad son of Ali Mohammad Mir of Lassipora Pulwama, Syed Rabani son of Mohammad Hussain of Nazneenpora Shopian and Towseef Ahmad Itoo son of Abdul Aziz of Nowpora Payeen Pulwama.
