Gunfight starts at Hapat Naalah area in central Kashmir’s Budgam district

Srinagar: An encounter between militants and government forces in Hapat Naalah area of Charar-e-Sharief of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday.

Reports said that a joint team of army and police, acting on credible input about presence of some militants, cordoned off Hapat Naalah area early on Monday.

As the joint team approached towards a suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering off a gunfight. The area is hilly one and gunfight was going on, a police official said.

Regarding the incident, Police tweeted: “Brief exchange of fire at Hapat Naalah area of Zinpanchal in District #Budgam. Area under cordon. Details shall follow.”
